The University at Albany's exchange affiliation with National Taiwan University allows students to study Chinese language and take courses in a variety of Asian Studies related fields that are taught in English. This study abroad option is intended for students who are interested in developing Chinese language skills and in pursuing in-depth study of subjects related to Taiwan.
Juniors, seniors and exceptional sophomores in all majors with at least 2.8 GPA are eligible to apply. Students with a lower GPA should consult with the study abroad program coordinator about whether or not to apply. Prior knowledge of Chinese is not required. Students with Taiwan passports are ineligible to participate in this study abroad option as required by the host university.
Students should register for at least 12 credits but no more than 18 credits per semester at National Taiwan University.

General Education Information for UAlbany students: Credits earned on this program will automatically satisfy the International Perspectives requirement. Three credits of foreign language study will satisfy the Foreign Language requirement. No additional approval is required for you to earn these General Education credits. You may file a request to have additional courses approved.
There is no credit conversion for this program. 1 NTU credit = 1 SUNY credit.
The University at Albany hosts a general orientation session on campus for the study abroad students and their families during the semester prior to participation on the program. National Taiwan University will also run an orientation for international students during their orientation week.
The Office of Education Abroad staff is available throughout the year to assist study abroad students and their parents. The Office of International Affairs staff at National Taiwan University serves as an experienced resource for solving problems for students while they are in Taiwan.
Exchange students are housed in National Taiwan University's student dormitories. There are cafeterias on and off campus where students can get meals. Students may also choose to make their own living arrangements.
