Academic Program
The University of Hull offers you the opportunity to shape their future and go beyond through high quality education and producing life-changing research. As an undergraduate student, you will benefit by enrolling in regular university classes with British students in one of the six faculties of the university. You can participate for a single semester or the entire academic year. You are expected to register for a full-time load, which typically is 60 Hull credits.
Important Note: Per University of Hull policy, ALL students (including study abroad students) have their grades formally ratified in the summer, when Trimester 2 students have also completed their studies. This doesn’t necessarily mean that your grades are likely to change, but please note that your records will be technically preliminary until approximately the August after your study abroad term.
Course Descriptions and Syllabi
As an exchange student, you cannot take modules in Law, Psychology, or Medicine. You should expect to take 3 courses as most courses are worth 20 Hull credits which is about 5 SUNY credits.

Course equivalency information for UAlbany Students
Credits earned on this program may be approved to satisfy the World History/International Perspectives or other UAlbany General Education requirements, if you earn appropriate credit in these areas and receive approval using the General Education Substitution Request form.
Courses may also satisfy major and minor requirements, with approval by the associated academic department(s). You may file a request to have additional courses approved for equivalency as necessary.
All courses successfully completed through this program abroad that are not assigned a specific UAlbany course equivalency will at least count as UAlbany General Elective credits. Credits and grades will appear on your UAlbany transcript.

Housing
The University of Hull boasts a selection of accommodation choices on campus, featuring a variety of housing options consisting of both university dorm options and private flats. When you are accepted by the University of Hull, you will get an accommodations email explaining the housing and what you should be looking for.
The Accommodations team will help you look into housing should you want to live off campus. The support of the Accommodation Office, will take you through the process of finding a suitable home-away-from-home and is very helpful and will assist you with any of your housing questions or concerns.
Meals
Most often, depending on where you live, you will be cooking meals for yourself. Some housings have what is called semi-self-catering. This mean you may have a meal plan but it will not be extensive and you will still have to do a majority of the cooking for your meals.

Academic Requirements
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are eligible to participate. Applications are welcome from students in all majors. A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required. If your GPA is below the level indicated, consult with us about whether or not you should apply.

Experiential Learning
You will see that there are a number of student’s opportunities at the University at Hull. The University at Hull has a Student Central Center that allows you to become a part of the Hull family. Prior to the start of classes, you will experience Welcome Fest, which is full of activities at the beginning of the fall semester.

Funding Opportunities
Most financial aid and academic awards will apply to semester programs.
External scholarships, listed on our website, are a good way to partially fund your study abroad experience. In addition, the Center for International Education and Global Strategy offers two scholarship programs for UAlbany students studying abroad on UAlbany or 4-year SUNY programs.

About the City
Kingston upon Hull is a dynamic city full of plenty for our students to enjoy. Hull is a city bursting with vitality, where a wealth of architectural heritage blends with innovative design to create a modern, vibrant city center full of character. The unique fish pavement - a trail of sculptures that winds through the Old Town area leads you to Hull's diverse museums, the Hull Marina, historic pubs, and the Princes Quay Shopping Center. The city center is uncrowded and peaceful with the sea always close at hand. London is a short train ride away and there are plenty of nearby towns and attractions to keep you occupied.
Travel Documents
A valid passport is required to participate in this program. U.S. citizens: If you are going to the United Kingdom to study for 6 months or less, you will get a Short-term Study visa (upon entry into the United Kingdom). If you are going to the United Kingdom to study for more than 6 months, you will have to obtain a Tier 4 (General) visa. More information regarding the visa application process is available upon acceptance to the program. The government of the United Kingdom has a short quiz to inform you what type of visa you would need, and how to obtain one. You can access that quiz, HERE.

About the Program
The University of Hull was founded in 1927 and currently has a student population of 9,000. Located three miles from the city center, the campus is in a residential neighborhood and offers modern library facilities, incredible sporting opportunities, and a renowned student center.
The "Hull Experience" at the "friendly university" (voted the U.K.'s Friendliest University in 2006 by Friends Reunited), extends into making students feel completely at ease and welcome for their term or year abroad at Hull.
The University at Albany's exchange agreement with the University at Hull allows students to directly enroll in either of the two campuses, one in Hull city and the other in Scarborough, just north of Hull. Both locations are warm, supporting and offer a friendly community in which to study and learn.

Program Orientations
Upon acceptance to the program, you will be required to attend a mandatory pre-departure orientation. During this time, you will have the opportunity to meet other program participants, discuss in-depth the details of your program, and prepare of the overall education abroad experience. The fall semester pre-departure orientation will be conducted mid-to-late May, and in late November/early December for the spring term abroad.
Upon arrival at University of Hull, you will attend a mandatory program orientation. This is an important and informative set of sessions organized by International Office of your host university.
Support Services
UAlbany’s Office of Education Abroad staff assists you during the application process, in your preparation to travel abroad, and on-site if necessary.
University of Hull's International Office staff serve as an experienced resource for resolving issues that you may encounter in while abroad.
